Estonia’s Consul from Washington, D.C., will be in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6, to provide consular services. Estonian citizens can apply for or renew a passport or ID card, have their fingerprints taken for future online document renewals, and handle other consular matters.
The Consul will conduct business at the Los Angeles Estonian House, located at 1306 West 24th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007. On Saturday, he will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, he will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Please pre-register for an appointment by emailing consulate.washington@mfa.ee. You will schedule your appointment directly with the embassy, not with me. In your email, include your mobile phone number, the reason for the appointment (such as passport renewal, initial passport application, fingerprinting, or other), and your preferred time. Requests will be processed in the order they are received.

Saunas are heated all day and night
Meals (approx. $8 to $16) will be prepared in the group kitchen, including Friday dinner, 3 meals on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday.
Volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen (especially Friday dinner & Sunday breakfast)
The Edgewater Inn is walking distance if you do not wish to camp.
Floating, swimming, fishing, or lounging with your feet in the water and a cocktail in your hand will be possible based on the river’s water level.

Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov returns, and Paavo Järvi conducts Brahms’ sunniest symphony

Paavo Järvi won raves when he led Brahms’ Second Symphony at New York’s Lincoln Center: “When the music built in urgency, Järvi made its outbursts sudden and awesome, with slashing rhythms and harrowingly great contrasts of volume and tempo,” reported The New Yorker. The acclaimed Brahmsian leads the LA Phil in the composer’s sunny, yet seductive, symphony.
Järvi kicks off the concert with Schumann’s Overture, Scherzo and Finale, filled with the “flush of spring” and the promise of new love and Beethoven’s bold Piano Concerto No. 1 with Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov.
Bachtrack praised Abduraimov for his playful imitation of the concerto’s trumpets and drums, writing that he “entered with a gentle lyrical lilt and made it quickly clear [he] was a pianist who fully enjoyed Beethovenian delights.”
